Welcome to True North Community Church
Pastor Gary Schnepp
Pastor Gary Schnepp was born and raised by Gladys and Paul Schnepp in Flint, Michigan. He and his brothers Derald (the eldest) and Phil the (youngest) had a fantastic childhood when Flint was in its glory days of General Motors as the main employer in the greater area of the State of Michigan.
After High school attended Ferris State College where he played football for one season. He’s a big man at 6’6” and leaves a lasting impression on people who meet him. Gary left and returned to his job at V-8 engine plant and during a layoff transferred to Fisherbody #1 in Flint. He remained there for 10 years, left on a student leave of absence and never went back. Instead he enrolled in United Wesleyan College (Diploma Houghton Bible College), where he became Resident Dean of Men until his graduation in 1984.
He married Rebecca (Dean) Schnepp February 26, 1972 and they have 3 grown children and 8 grandchildren. As the Pastor says “she is my Queen” (the church) actually has adapted this name for her as well. They have faithfully served what was (Willow Community Church) and now True North Community Church for 15 years. He has 3 undergraduate degrees and a Masters in Family life. He is well known in the community and does Leadership mentoring in the Local business of the area as well as students in middle and high school.
One thing that people will say is he has a huge heart and accepts people for who they are and where they are in life. One thing Pastor Gary has driven home to the community of believers is that each one is “Special and unique.” As is often said here, “there ain’t no hands like these hands. YOU are somebody special.” You have to experience how he says this in order to fully appreciate it in its fullness. Come and see for yourself and when you do, you’ll get the message and impact of what it means.
Here at True North Community Church we say, “grace, mercy, and love goes a long way in helping one another. We're not perfect, just a bunch of people saved by grace.” If you get the “true North right, your world becomes a better place, not perfect but better. I would love to meet you personally and experience this opportunity as we grow together to see if you don’t agree.
